I love eating fruit and making smoothies but I hate when my fruit goes bad. It's the worst when you throw away fruit. I love to freeze my fruit. I wait until it goes on a great sale and then I stock up. I have about 10lbs of Strawberries in my freezer I bought at Sunflower the other week for $.77/lb. I know you think I am crazy I figured out if I bought 1 container a week on sale for $2 I'd make my money back after 4 weeks and still have 6 more weeks of free fruit. I usually leave a few days worth out to eat and then wash the fruit and "prepare it" to freeze. I take the stem off the strawberries or slice the banana's in to pieces. Then place them on a cookie sheet in the freezer. Once they are frozen you can remove them from the freezer and put them in a Ziploc. This way you don't have a chunk of fruit you can't use like I did the first time I froze banana's. They are great for smoothies because you don't have to add ice (which makes it watery) to make the smoothie cold. Try it you won't be disappointed.
Thanks
Money Saving Mom for the cookie sheet idea. Now my Banana's won't be one big clump!
