Coupon Crash Course part 6

I found the coupons now what do I do?

First you will cut out or print all of the coupons you think you will use. I hold on to the inserts for a while in case there is a coupon I missed or an awesome sale on an I don’t normally use but would be willing to use if I could get it for cheap or free.

Now that you have a ton of coupons organization is an important part. You want to be able to easily find your coupons. There are multiple methods people us to organize their coupons. The two most common are

Small Accordion Folders that fit in our purse

Binder with baseball card holders

I prefer the accordion folder so that is the method I will explain. If you would like more information about the binder method please email SignificanSavings@gmail.com.

I personally find the accordion folder easier because it fits nicely in my purse and comes with me everywhere. I never have to remember to grab it and I find it a little less conspicuous when walking the isle of the store. If I used a binder I wouldn’t be able to take my child with me to the store because it would take up the whole front of the cart. While I hate taking my son to the store sometimes I have to as some of you will have to as well. There is my opinion for what it’s worth…. On to how the accordion folder works

I separate my coupons into categories and file them in the folder with labels. There are two ways to do this.

You can organize them by date of newspaper and have a section for ones that will expire soon. This will allow you to easily find a coupon based on the information provided. For example our site says SS 6/7 you can quickly open your accordion folder, finger through to 6/7 and find the corresponding coupon. While I find this works great for finding deals listed on our site it can make it hard to find a coupon if you are looking for a specific coupon but do not know when it was mailed out.

You can organize them by type of coupon for example baby, hygiene, frozen food, condiments, etc. Each person will have different categories that makes sense to them. I personally find organizing it by sections in the store works best for me. It is still very easy to find the coupons listed on our site and makes it easier to find other coupons you need for items on your list.

Whatever way you decide to organize them is up to you. I will suggest pulling the coupons you plan to use ahead of time and placing them in a separate section for easy access. I pull mine ahead of time based on my list of items I need and take the whole accordion folder with me. You never know when something will be on sale or clearance that was not advertised. You would hate to miss a great deal because you left it at home.
